> Alpha Rho Chi

Alpha Rho Chi is a national co-educational fraternity, catering to students in architecture and the allied arts. This professional/social organization was founded in 1914, through the joint effort of students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the University of Michigan at Ann-Arbor.

Professional fraternities, such as Alpha Rho Chi, focus their membership on students of a particular profession. Unlike other fraternities, the professional aspect of these fraternities provides a common bond among its members. There is a mutual interest in the pursuit of their profession. Professional fraternities stress the importance of professional ethics and exemplary practices, and they maintain higher scholastic averages than the general student body. They also serve to further their members’ exposure to the professional field by conducting extensive programs, tours, forums and learning projects. Like other fraternities, professional fraternities foster social and athletic functions to promote the members’ personal development and each has an alumni organization providing valuable professional and social contacts.

To find out information on the national fraternity and other chapters of Alpha Rho Chi, or if you are interested in forming a colony at your own institution, please check out the National website.
